Nicaragua

INFORMATION AND SPIRITUAL NEED

Nicaragua is the poorest country in Central America.

Throughout Nicaragua, from Managua to small rural communities, they honor patron saints selected from the Roman Catholic calendar with annual fiestas. The high point of Nicaragua’s religious calendar for the masses is neither Christmas or Easter, but La Purísima, a week of festivities in early December dedicated to the Virgin Mary. There are many people who call themselves Christian in the country, but they do not understand what Christianity means. The Reformation never came to Latin America so there is much need for sound biblical teaching. Most churches teach that you gain salvation through good deeds, rather than through Christ alone. Nicaragua needs the truth of the Gospel and churches planted focused on the supremacy of Jesus Christ.

Nicaragua is in dire need of the gospel.

Petra Nicaragua Churches and Camp La Roca

There are currently five Petra church plants in Nicaragua: in Managua, Matagalpa, Chinandega, and Balgue and Merida on Ometepe Island. Additionally, there is the La Roca Camp and Farm on Ometepe Island that supports the various Petra ministries as well as hosts national and international teams, training times, and retreats.  The church in Managua recently started a new church plant in February 2023 on the other side of the city, resulting in the sixth Christ-centered church planted by Petra in the country.
